How To Merge Two or More Facebook Pages with Different Names

There have been many posts regarding merging pages on Facebook. However, Facebook keeps making major changes and reading outdated posts is only going to confuse you further. This makes creating a new post every now and then a need to cope up with the changes.

With the latest update, you can now merge different pages you might have created for your product or organizations.

Remember, this is only meant for combining two PAGES and not the profiles or timelines that you own. Facebook does not provide any way to convert your group into a page but you sure can change your profile into a page now.

Methods To Merge Facebook Pages
There are two simple methods you can use to merge your pages. The first one is simpler however, if this does not work successfully you always have second method to go for.

If both your pages meet the requirements of being made by you with identical name and one of the two pages being a “place” page then you might just have to use one click to make Facebook automatically merge the two pages for you.
To check if you can achieve this, access you page as admin and click on the option saying “edit page” in the upper corner towards right.

Edit Page
Click on the option “resources” and look for “Merge duplicate pages”. If this option is available then you can merge the pages by clicking it. The option will list all the pages that can be combined together.

If the option is not there then no need to worry since there is always the second option to merge Facebook Pages.

Other Method To Merge Facebook Pages

The first step is to gather the URLs of all the pages that you wish to combine together. Be careful to get the complete URL that includes the part displayed in address bar, the one that says facebook.com and everything that follows /.
facebook.com
Launch something like a word document or notepad where you need to copy the complete URL of your page that you wish other pages to be merged to. Facebook must be informed clearly which page you want to keep and which ones you want fused to this page. This page will be referred to as the “Keeper” page throughout this post.

Note: If you are thinking of writing the URLs down somewhere then I would recommend copying and pasting over it since the URLs can be lengthy thus, one wrong letter could mess everything up.
Next step is to copy and paste the URLs of those pages that are to be merged into the keeper page. Keep these URLs under a heading or in a new document to avoid confusion.

REALLY IMPORTANT!!!
Be VERY careful to get all the stuff from the pages that you have from the pages to be merged into the keeper page. By all the stuff I mean all the photos, videos, posts and everything else. The only thing that will be saved from these pages is your fans. These will be merged to the fans of your keeper page. All the rest of the stuff will permanently be gone.

How To Merge Facebook Pages

When all the prerequisites are done, you just have to send a request to Facebook to merge your Facebook Pages into the keeper page. This procedure must be followed while being logged into the admin account for your keeper page. If you do not have a real profile account on Facebook rather merely a business account to operate the pages then this procedure will not work.

The actual process of submitting the request is a lot easier. Simply go to the URL to submit the request to merge your Facebook pages. Click on the drop down list to opt for your “keeper” page followed by the ones you wish to merge into the keeper page. These pages are referred to as ‘inauthentic’ pages though it doesn’t really mean that. It could mean anything from ‘pages somebody created for me’ or ‘extra pages’ or anything that you would like to hear.
Request a Page Merge

Fill the form given after selecting the pages and click Submit. Note that the time taken to get a response back can be anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
As far as the number of fans is concerned, if you have 500 hundred fans on each page, you might not necessarily have 1000 fans for both of your pages or 2000 for combining 4 pages with equal number of fans since some of these might be fans of all 4 pages. However, ALL of the fans will be merged to be the fans of your keeper page.
