Top Reasons; Why Your Website Losing Rank in Google Search

All website and blog owners had been alerted regarding Google’s new policies of analyzing page contents to rank them accordingly. Fortunately, the blow didn’t come at once rather a gradual implementation was followed.

Majority of us are actually thankful to Google for taking such measures that has in turn enhanced the quality of content listed as results for any keyword search. Now I don’t have to spend precious time searching down the content I need out of all the spam sprawled over results shown.

Many websites (including yours) might have gotten a lot of random hits because such keywords are always made anchor texts that get most searched for. This technique has been used greatly by almost all website users out there but Google had enough of these money making keywords popping up everywhere as anchor texts, relevant or (as in most cases) irrelevant.

With Google’s new improved policies, your page is bound to have ranked differently than you expected. Let us go through some reasons that would explain what happened and why happened esp. if your blog is losing rank in Google.

Reasons; Why Your Blog is Going Down in Google

1.  You hardly update your blog with new content

It is not something you can just make ad forget. You need to be regular in creating relevant content and putting it up every now and the. A smart move would be to make an updating schedule and follow it if you can work that way. Not putting more content directly lowers your page rank in Google.

2. Every word is not a keyword

Having the targeted keywords only a few times all through your content is enough to attract attention from Google. Excess of keywords not only destroys the quality of your content but has a reversed effect on your blog rank in Google. Just add the keywords in first and last paragraphs or twice more throughout the rest of the content. Be very careful regarding the relevance of the keywords you are adding.

3. No incoming links

Old blogs and sites don’t really have this issue but the new ones need to pay attention to what directories they are signing up with. Sign up with at least one for reliable incoming links.

4.  Advertisements all over the page

Making money is fine but going overboard with advertisements for the sake can be harmful for your website. If ads are the first and in many cases only tings visible on your page, the reader is hardly going to stay for a second look. Focus on the content and hold the ads back. You don’t need to force users to buy from you, your content will do the job for you.

5.  You receive incoming links but from poor quality sites

Comments is a good way for receiving incoming links but letting just anyone to link to your website is a poor tactic. You will end up in trouble if you don’t monitor whether these links suit your niche or the quality of content is fine enough.

6.  Load-time of your blog

Maintain your blog from time to time. This involves removing plug-ins you are not currently using. It will decrease the loading time of your blog tremendously.

7.  Your blog is down too often

What would a reader do if a blog is almost always down? That’s right. He will switch or at least thinking about it. Your hosting service needs to take this into consideration.

8.   Bad spelling and grammar

Mistakes in spelling and grammar are the strongest reader-repellant by far. You don’t need to be a writing pro to come up with a great content but the least you can do (which is more than enough) is make your content in programs that offer a spelling and grammar check, like Microsoft Word for instance. Don’t forget you need the search engines to detect your page and this is not going to happen with spelling errors at least.

9.  Your blog footer contains too many links

Footers in a blog are good places to put some of your useful links like sharing social media sites or recent posts but adding to many links including ads works in a negative way for your blog.

10. Buying and selling links

Google is strictly against this sort of linking where you buy or sell a link. If you are into this method then I suggest you get the link removed since Google is never going to rank your site higher if it finds about this activity.

11. Quality over quantity

Too many clicks over time to your page is a good news but same visitors hitting the back button as soon as they come is a bad news of a greater implication. It is better you choose quality rather than quantity that is longer lasting than the latter.

12.  Your competitors are ranking higher

Keeping an eye on your competitor’s ranks on Google is a good way to analyze what tactics you need to apply. If your competitor’s page is going up while you are at the same level or worst, going down then find out what your competitor is doing with his page. Apply those techniques to rank higher than before.

13.  Malware attacks

Malware is something that affects all of us without us being able to do anything. All our efforts normally fail in front of a Malware attack. To avoid it, use Google’s Webmaster Tools that will check your site and get rid of any unwanted threats.

14.  Incoming links leading to your homepage only

It isn’t much good if all the links are pointing only to your homepage. Some of these links should be leading to your other posts and pages as well.
No matter you love Google or despise it, it still stays the number one search engine when it comes to users searching keywords from all over the globe. Keep to Google’s guidelines for ranking you’re your blog and your blog will do just fine. Honestly speaking, the best way to get a good rank as far as any engine out there is concerned is to be natural with your blog. Do your own thing without jumping into any keyword stuffing or other techniques. Your blog will keep going up on its own page depending upon your activity on it.
Google has its own ways to assist the bloggers and the website owners. Webmaster Guidelines and Google’s YouTube Channel is available to know exactly what Google wants.
