Using Facebook Texts

To Sign Up For Facebook Texts:

1. Click the Settings Gear on the Toolbar and then select Account Settings from the drop-down menu.

2. From General Account Settings, locate and select Mobile in the Navigation pane.

3. The Mobile Settings page will appear. Click Add a Phone.

4. The Activate Facebook Texts dialog box will appear. Use the drop-down menus to select your country and mobile carrier, then click Next.

5. Using your phone, send a text message to the number 32665. Type the letter F in the message box, then press Send.  (Note that this number is for Facebook users in the United States, Canada, and a few other countries. To find codes for other countries, go to Facebook's list of country codes.)

6. Within a few minutes, you should receive a confirmation code on your phone.
7. Return to Facebook and enter the confirmation code into the Activate Facebook Texts dialog box.

8. By default, Facebook displays your phone number on your Profile. If you wish to keep this private, uncheck the Share my phone number with my friends box.
9. If you do not wish to receive Facebook messages as texts, uncheck the Allow friends to text me from Facebook box, then click Next.

10. Take a moment to review your Facebook Texts settings.

    1. Choose the phone number for text notifications.
    2. Decide if Facebook Messages will be sent directly to your phone as a text message.
    3. If desired, set a limit on the number of texts you can receive from Facebook each day. This is especially helpful if you don't have an unlimited texting plan.
    4. Facebook provides you with a random post by email address, which allows you to post photos to Facebook directly from your phone. If you wish to post a photo from your mobile phone, you can send an email to this address, including the photo as an attachment.

To Use Facebook Texts

• To update your status using Facebook Texts, simply send the text of your status update as a message to 32665, or your Facebook country code.
